The next home game for the Uganda Cranes will be played at Namboole- Sports Minister Ogwang.
According to State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang, Uganda Cranes won’t fly back to play in their home matches.
Currently taking place AFCON 2023 qualifier, the Cranes’ home game against Tanzania was played in Egypt. The Confederation of African Football (CAF), the continent’s football governing body, had previously ruled that Uganda’s stadiums were ineligible to host international games.
The announcement left a lot of Ugandans perplexed, and they questioned why the government hadn’t upgraded the nation’s sporting facilities.
The UPDF Engineering Brigade was given official permission by the government to renovate Namboole Stadium last year. But an exact date for when the renovations will be finished is not yet known.
The stadium, according to Minister Ogwang, will, however, be open by June 12.
The match against Algeria will take place on June 12 at Namboole Stadium. That is my pledge to Ugandans, he said.
