Inside a school store, a senior four student of St. Michael High School in the Rubirizi district was discovered dead. The 18-year-old Moses Atukwatse, a resident of Kambiringi cell in the Rutoto sub-county, was suspended from school about a week ago, according to the headteacher James Rukaijakare.
Atukwatse was then instructed to return with a roll of barbed wire as a fine, but according to Rukaijakare, on Tuesday, Atukwatse returned to school without the barbed wire and was consequently sent home.
They were shocked, he claims, when the student’s body was discovered in the store. Initial investigations indicate that the deceased sneaked back into school at night, according to a Martial Tumusiime, Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson.
One of the students noticed him climbing the school store’s wall and reported him to the security officer.
Tumusiime claims that Atukwatse was detained by the security guard at the school and then locked inside the shop. The head teacher and police were on the scene in case they wanted to intervene.
He claimed that the student’s body was discovered hanging on the window panes when the police showed up at the school on Thursday at 9:00 am to pick up the student. According to Tumusiime, the student had the option of hanging himself with his belt.
According to Tumusiime, the deceased’s body was transported to the mortuary at Rugazi Health Center IV for a postmortem. Additionally, he said that the case is still being investigated.
