President Yoweri Museveni appointed 11 new acting High Court judges

President Yoweri Museveni recently appointed 11 new acting High Court judges, who have all been reviewed by Parliament’s Appointments Committee. Following a notification sent to members of the Appointments Committee by Clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesige on July 17, the screening process was overseen by Speaker of Parliament Anita Among on Friday.

Jameson Karemani, Flavia Nabakooza, Philip Willebrord Mwaka, Christine Akello Echookit, Amos Kwizera, David Makumbi, Samson Lwokya, and Rosette Comfort Kania are among those who have undergone background checks. The others are Aisha Naluzze Batala, Farouq Lubega, Jacqueline Mwondha, and Patience Emily Tumusiime.

Following the Parliament’s approval of a larger staffing structure for High Court judges, from the current 83 to 151 judges, their appointment brings the total number of High Court judges to 81.
