Mercedes Benz incident In the early hours of Friday morning, a speeding Mercedes Benz driver lost control and killed two street kids. The incident happened in Kampala at the intersection of Acacia and Kayunga roads. The Benz was being driven by Faziru Kimera, a resident of Buwate, Kira Municipality, in the Wakiso district, according to witnesses cited by the police.
The incident happened at 1:26 in the morning as a result of Kimera’s speeding and collision with a road barrier that was acting as a shelter for homeless children, according to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police.
“Three homeless street kids were struck by the car after it struck the road barriers. The white Toyota Mark X with the license plate UBF 788K was coming from the Mulago side when the Mercedes-Benz continued on its course and struck it, according to Owoyesigyire.
The victims were taken to the hospital by the police, who then took action, but two of the three injured street kids were later declared dead there. Both the Mark X driver and the crash-causer Kimera were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
